Paris, Travel

SURPRISE! We’re going to Paris!

As the end of 2019 nears closer, I’m taking a moment to finish sharing our 2018 adventures. I’m a little late to the party, but I’m considering it fashionably late, instead of in-over-my-head-behind on posting. Perspective my friends, it’s all about perspective. 🙂 I started writing about our Paris adventure after we returned home from our travels, and now I’m finally ready to start sharing our experiences. Coming up I’ll be wrapping up our more recent adventures to Kauai, Oklahoma, and the Cook Islands. Stay tuned.

Cody and I were smitten with Paris after our first visit back in September 2017–and it wasn’t just because of the endless chocolate croissants and fancy glasses of rose’. We didn’t realize that we’d fall head over heels for the City of Light; however, the incredible Parisian architecture, the people, the history, the delicious food, the elegant avenues, the gritty alleyways, the romantic gardens, everything came together in a surprising juxtaposition and we loved feeling like there was something new to explore around every corner. We left Paris with incredible memories, hearts bursting with gratitude, and plans to return–the sooner the better.

In the weeks and months following our trip, Cody and I talked about Paris almost every day; and more specifically, our plans for a return trip. I frequently browsed airfare deals and also set up a few price alerts in order to keep an eye on flight deals. You know, just in case

And that’s when it happened.

In February, a mere six months after our first visit, flights to Paris dropped significantly. And by significantly, I mean mind-boggling low. I had never seen fares that low. After I pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, I called Cody to share the good news, and to my delight, he responded with: “Well, I guess we’re going back to Paris this year!” 🙂

There’s nothing I love more than finding an epic travel deal. The more money I save when planning our travels, means the more we get to travel, so I’m always on the lookout for a great deal; and I spent the next week on cloud nine as I celebrated our lucky timing.

After proper celebration, it was time to get to work. I sat down to plan our itinerary and the first place I turned was my Paris round-up blog post. Over the years I’ve created destination round-up posts to not only recap our many adventures, but to also serve as a guide in planning our next visit–because in most cases, there will most definitely be a return visit. And as I read through my travel diary and Paris blog posts, all of those happy feelings came rushing back. We couldn’t wait for another opportunity for more Parisian adventures.

And before we knew it, it was time to say Au Revoir! to the U.S and Bonjour mon cher! to Paris.
