Located an hour and a half south of Kona is a piece of land recognized as the Southernmost Point in the U.S. (Just for the record, this is just the United States it does not include any U.S. Territories) 😉 Tall, dry grass sways along the 12-mile (mostly one lane) road, and trees succumb to the constant pressure of the powerful wind. There is nothing but cattle, horses, and ranch land in this barren and harsh landscape.

So why in the heck would anyone waste their time driving to this remote location? To stand at the Southernmost Point in the U.S., of course. Or to cliff jump at “The Edge of the World.” There’s nothing but deep blue ocean between these cliffs and Antarctica. If you’re going to jump, I hope you’re a strong swimmer…

Aloha!
Ahh! Did you jump? I went there but was too scared! hahaha
No! I wanted to, but it was SO high up (and I was SO far away from a hospital) 😉 I should have climbed down the ladder a little bit and then jumped… I guess I can do that next time!
Haha yes it looked SUPER scary. And it was so windy that I freaked out because of that too. Plus, a girl that was there got a pretty big gash on her foot from climbing up (I think). But it definitely looks like something I would “want” to do 😛
you are very brave! The water looks very inviting though 🙂
Hey Kristina!
I didn’t jump this time.. 😦 I should have climbed down the ladder a little and then jumped but it just felt way too high and wayyyyyy to far away from the hospital 😉
I don’t blame you, looks pretty high 🙂 I wouldn’t have jumped either 🙂
I was there back in December, but it was grey and overcast. Looks like you had the perfect day!
It was incredibly windy, but the skies were blue! 🙂 Did you jump while you were there?? I really wanted to snorkel as I hear it’s amazing, but I didn’t get the chance.
We went there on our last day on the Big Island. Other people were jumping (or at least hanging about thinking about perhaps jumping), but it was too chilly for me that day!
Wow!! Makes me want to jump right in!!
On 3! ready…. 1….. 2….. 🙂
It seemed REALLY high up. I should have climbed half way down the ladder and then jumped! 🙂
