Let’s get back to having some fun around here, shall we? Can you believe Christmas is only 22 days away?
You guys, it’s no surprise, but I LOVE Christmas. All of the family parties, the delicious food and amazing drinks, the classic movies (“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!”), and cheerful Christmas music. Everyone seems to be in a good mood, so of course it’s hard to deny that feel-good Christmas Spirit.
Today I’m sharing some of my favorite gift ideas for the world travelers among us. Some of these are on my personal Christmas list, some are great stocking-stuffers, and some are sure to surprise your sweetie come Christmas morning.
The World Traveler’s Christmas List
- Sunglasses
Tropical destinations are always on my horizon and I like to come prepared with a pair of sunglasses (or two). I’m loving the cute bows on these Chanel glasses and I also have my eye on a pair of Kate Spade’s.
- Travel Toiletry/Shower Bag
When I travel I like to keep all my toiletries in one place. I find it much easier to grab one bag that holds all of my toiletries rather than rummaging through my entire carry-on for that one hair tie.
- Packing Cubes
Staying organized while on-the-go can be a challenge, and if you’re an overpacker like I am sometimes the challenge is downright frustrating. Help your beloved traveler keep their bags organized so they can focus on exploring, instead of worrying about cramming everything into their carry-on.
- Luggage
Because let’s face it, luggage gets beat up, torn, and broken after so much use over the years. I’m loving this teal Osprey backpack–I might need to order it before our trip to Thailand next summer!
- Canon PowerShot Underwater Housing
After completing my SSI Open Water certification my thoughts turned to all of the amazing photos I could capture in my new underwater world. This gift idea is definitely a splurge, so maybe next year I’ll work on making sure my name shows up on Santa’s “Nice” list! 😉
- Lonely Planet Travel Guides
When it comes to Travel Guides I’m a Lonely Planet girl through and through. (Unless we’re researching Hawaii–in that case, please pass me the “Blue Books“) 🙂 Italy, Greece, and Fiji are all on my Christmas List. Which destinations would you include?
- Travel-sized ANYTHING
Does your traveler have a stocking hung by the fire? Fill it up with travel sized soaps, shampoos, lotions, and sanitizer. Not only will they breeze through airport security on their next vacation, but the travel-sized bottles look incredibly cute as well (am I right or am I right??)
- Travel Accessories
Speaking of stockings, what about including a new passport cover or colorful luggage tag?
- A Cute Scarf
Not only is a scarf a great fashion accessory, but it takes up minimal space and is incredibly versatile: they’ll be reaching for this scarf to use as a blanket on that cold flight, or maybe they will roll it up and use it as a pillow in order to get some shut-eye on that next layover.

What did I miss? I’d love to hear what’s on your list!
One of the things we do not travel without is RFID passport protective covers. The covers prevent the new passports from being scanned by identity theft scammers.
From a tech side I also don’t go anywhere without my laptop, photo editing software and selection of WD portable hard drives.
That is a great idea. I’ll have to add it to my Christmas list.
When I travel I also take my laptop and of course our camera. 🙂
Merry Christmas!

Aloha my lovely friends!
With Christmas Eve just ONE week away I thought I would reblog my Christmas post from last year. If you haven’t found that perfect gift for the traveler in your life keep reading…

Thank you! 🙂
I recently took that Osprey bag (#4) across the Grand Canyon, I love that bag!
So glad to hear it! 🙂 I want to go to the Grand Canyon next year… sounds like I’ll need this bag for Thailand and the Grand Canyon. 🙂 Hope you have a happy Holiday season!
Thank you, you too! And if you plan on going to Havasupai Falls let me know if you have questions, the website isn’t all that helpful.
Awesome list! I would have added a kindle! can’t live without one and my current one is in urgent need of a replacement!
That is an awesome idea! 🙂 I hope Santa brings you a new Kindle.
Great list sweetie! 🙂 Those are all useful & helpful things!
Thanks, my dear! 🙂 I’ve got to get my hands on some of those packing cubes!
😉 You sure do!
Sun Screen! As a Brit, its impossible to find after the couple of months of heat we get annually. On our last holiday, we had to but Sun Screen at the hotel – it cost £28! I nearly spent the whole holiday in the shade 😉
Also a back up charger case for the iPhone or spare camera battery – nothing worse than running out part way through the day at the best attraction of the holiday.
Finally a lovely journal – always good to read back and store memories forever x
Hi Victoria,
Great ideas!! I love the sunscreen idea–what a great stocking stuffer, especially if you have a trip on the horizon. I’m partial to a good journal. 🙂 I actually did a blog post about keeping a travel journal. (https://picturesandplanetickets.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/travel-tips-thursday-writing-it-all-down/) I love going back and reading the entries.
And the batteries are definitely needed. I’m liking your idea of the charger case for the iPhone. I might need to look into this for our trip next summer.
Thanks for your great suggestions!!
Cute list!
Thank you! 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
