What is better than a weekend getaway to Las Vegas? How about a weekend getaway to Las Vegas with your best friends! (Yes, please!)
Over the years, Cody and I have successfully bugged, ahem, persuaded our sweet family to join us on adventures to Norway, Hawaii, Moab and more, so it should come as no surprise that we’ve applied the same persistence to our awesome friends as well. 🙂 And as we began planning a springtime getaway to Las Vegas, Cody and I both knew that having our friends along for the ride would be the cherry on top of the sundae. (Or rather, the extra shot in our Fat Tuesday’s cocktail).
We arrived on Friday and left on Sunday, which left us with a whirlwind 48-hours for shenanigans along that famous strip. And shenanigan we most definitely did.
Our home-base was near Planet Hollywood, and after checking in and enjoying some cold beverages in the condo, we hit that famous boulevard on a search for lady luck. And it wasn’t long before we found her. While at the Paris Las Vegas — where the City of Light meets the City of Sin — we learned that one of our friends had never gambled before. So being the kind and supportive friends that we are, we sat him down at the cutest butterfly-decorated-purple slot machine that we could find and told him where to insert his cash and what buttons to push. I’m pretty sure beginner’s luck is a “thing” because he tripled his money almost immediately.
We continued our casino hop well into the evening — with necessary refueling stops along the way (because when in Vegas…) — and ended our night watching the beautiful Fountains at the Bellagio. In all my visits to Vegas I had never taken a moment to slow down and enjoy the entire show, and I’m so glad we had that chance this time around.
Saturday morning we were up surprisingly early — and most importantly, hangover-free — so we walked to breakfast at Hash-House-A-Go-Go in The Linq where our luck continued, as our party of five was seated almost immediately. Saturday’s casino hop included stops at The Paris, Bally’s, Caesar’s Palace, Cosmopolitan, New York New York, MGM Grand, and a few other casinos I’ve forgotten to mention, as well as a visit to Hershey’s Chocolate World.
We had no concrete plans for our weekend in Vegas other than fun, gambling, and partaking in a few adult beverages, and that’s precisely what we did. Looking back the only thing I would have changed is adding one extra day to our trip; because when Sunday rolled around we weren’t ready to leave. We walked close to 20 miles in two days — which made me feel slightly less terrible about the overindulgence in both libations and food — and left with hilarious memories and an even closer bond to our awesome friends.
Until next time, Vegas!
This was such a fun trip! We need to go again soon!
YESSSSSSS!!! We should keep our eyes out for some cheap flight deals 🙂
Vegas is definitely a fun place to go with friends! I’m going next month so I’ll definitely take note of these suggestions!

Awesome. Next time you guys have to go Downtown Vegas and see the Fremont Street Experience
We love Freemont Street. It’s been years since we’ve been down there, thanks for the suggestion to visit again. I would love to check out the zipline. It looks so fun.
I haven’t been on the zip line but so many people love it
What fun!!
