You guys, YOU GUYS! I am SO excited to hit the publish button on this blog post today.
As you know one of the consistent themes throughout this blog is my never-ending Bucket List — I’ve shared the many fun adventures we’ve had while completing different items on that list, I’ve shared recent updates to my Bucket List, and I’ve even blogged about my ultimate bucket list destination. Over the last couple of months I have dropped a few subtle hints about our upcoming fifth anniversary trip, and today is the day; the announcement you’ll all been waiting for. 😉
We’ve all watched those surprise Disneyland videos, you know the ones… the parents record their child’s reaction as they tell them they are headed to the Happiest Place on Earth. The lucky kid jumps up and down, screams in excitement (and disbelief), and sheds a few happy tears upon hearing the news — well in the interest of full disclosure, I basically had that same reaction when we both agreed on this next vacation. Move aside Mickey, as I need to make an announcement: Cody and I are headed to the dreamy South Pacific in less than four months! (You can’t see me, but I’m totally doing a happy dance as I type!)
Those beautiful Society Islands in French Polynesia are beckoning and we are finally answering that call. This is going to be a trip to remember! We will spend most of our time on the heart-shaped tropical island of Mo’orea and include a stopover on Tahiti, so today I’m reaching out to you… Have you been? We have booked our overwater bungalow (eeeee! I am so excited!), and I’m currently looking for restaurant and excursion recommendations. Are you a diver? I’d love to hear about your experience and the dive shop you chose.
So let’s get to it, I’ll meet you down below in the comments. I can’t wait to read all of your great advice!
Mauruuru (Thank you! in Tahitian)
Really happy for you guys – this one looks like it will be amazing!
I’m super excited for the scuba diving 🙂
I am soooooooooooo happy for you!!!!!! What hotel are you staying at? We are looking to book our trip in May! I will know by tomorrow hopefully, just waiting on my husband getting his time off approved. When are you going!?
Thanks, beautiful! We decided on the Hilton 🙂 and we’re headed there in June. I am so excited!! Too bad we couldn’t meet up!!
Hope you received your good news today about the time off!
xoxo
Ohhh that was one of my first choices! They were completely out of the bungalows for May though! My husband found out today that he has to wait now until next week, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the hotel we want still has the bungalow!!!
Good luck. I’m crossing my fingers for you too!! What hotel are you looking at? There were so many great options, it was hard to choose.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh FABULOUS news!!! We FINALLY booked our trip!!! I am soooo excited. We are going the middle of May to the Sofitel. It was my first choice so I’m just so glad that it worked out in the end!!!
YAY! I’m so excited for you! The Sofitel looks amazing, we considered that one as well. I can’t wait to see all of your pictures and read about your adventures!
I wish we were going around the same time!! It would be so cool to meet up in our dream destination!
Shauna,
I wish that too! It would be SO much fun. One of these years our paths will cross. 🙂
For sure! We’ll make it happen! 🙂
That looks amazing! I’m finishing up a vaca in Hawaii with a little diving. Now I want to go to Tahiti!
Hi there. I am SO excited to dive in Mo’orea. 😉 Hope you get a chance to go soon!
What island are you on in Hawaii? We really like diving in Maui and on the Big Island. 🙂
Big Island. We had a lot of wind though and visibility was average. Lots of whales this year 🙂 I haven’t ventured to the Polynesian islands. What a dream vacation.
Congratulations, the South Pacific is spectacular. I spent 4 months cruising the various islands back in 1977/8, but noted on our recent cruise they have changed.
On our recent World cruise we stopped in Tahiti, but not Mo’orea. You can check back to old posts in our blog for some ideas on Tahiti.
Not sure which Canon camera you have, as rather than replacing they have waterproof cases for a number of models.
Looking forward to reading your posts and seeing photos.
Hey Andy & Judi,
Thanks for your help. I will head over to your blog to check things out. I was hoping that some of my readers had been there.
I’ve been looking at an underwater housing for my Canon point and shoot, but they are pretty expensive. 😦 I’ve been using my GoPro, which is fine, but I’d really like to upgrade soon.
Hope you have a great day!
Can’t wait to read all about!! This is on my wishlist too!!
Francie,
Happy to have you here. I hope you get a chance to go soon too 🙂
I am so excited for you! I’ve never been, but I recommend getting an underwater camera if you don’t have one already.
Photos are my favorite keepsakes from traveling.
Hi Taylor,
Thanks!! I have a GoPro that I always take on every trip and I also dive with it, but I’m looking at upgrading and buying an underwater camera case for my Canon camera. 🙂
I’m the same way, I love looking back at all of my photos and videos from our travels. Those are the best keepsakes.
Thanks for stopping by.
xoxo
Congratulation for your upcoming trip on you ultimate bucket list. Before Tahiti is one of my dream to visit and I know it’s going to be expensive but there is a lot of resort in the Philippines now which is more cheaper where you will stay in the cottage with glass floor and enjoy the different kind of fish on the bottom of the cottage.again congratulation on your fifth anniversary and wish the best and enjoy.
Thank you, the French Polynesian islands are definitely not cheap, and that’s why I thought this special anniversary would be such a great time to go. We are also going over my 30th birthday, so it will be quite the celebration 🙂
I can’t wait to visit the Philippines one day, you have convinced me to go! 🙂
Advance happy birthday and wish you can visit philippine too
