It’s Been a Year?!

This time last year my world was a little crazy. I had three weeks left until I married the man of my dreams, and the list of final items to check off of the wedding list seemed to grow by the second. The night before the wedding my (now) husband and I ordered pizza and settled in to watch a movie. We wanted a quiet Friday night at home before all the chaos began the next morning. (Yes, I was one of those brides who ate pizza the night before her wedding…) 😉

As everyone says, the day went by way too fast. We truly enjoyed spending the day with our closest friends and family who came from all over the United States to help celebrate our union. The day held many special moments:

• I had an awesome idea to keep candy in the bridal suite in order to keep my two-year old niece (my beautiful flower girl) happy as she walked down the aisle. That plan backfired because as she started to walk down the aisle she decided that she would rather have more candy so she ran back to the bridal suite to get more. 🙂 I guess we should have filled the flower basket with candy instead of those pesky flowers. This moment still brings a huge smile to my face every time I think about it.

• One of the best moments of the day happened as my husband was reading his vows. The line, “I promise to love you in good times, like trips to Hawaii, and in bad times, like when cars get stolen,” not only made me laugh, but our ceremony guests as well. (Sadly, my car had been stolen the month before the wedding. Leave it to my sweet husband to try to make a joke out of it to lighten the situation–one of my favorite things about him)
• Or the moment during the reception when some of my best friends from high school decided to play  “Holiday Inn,” yes–that Holiday Inn, performed by Chingy, Snoop Dogg, and Ludacris. We couldn’t stop giggling as we reminisced about our high school days cruising town and singing along at the top of our lungs (don’t judge) 😉
• Towards the end of the night my husband and I got a chance to sit down and as I glanced over he had a big plate full of desserts to devour: Strawberry cheesecake, brownie à la mode, Strawberry shortcake, and wedding cake. (I just love him and his sweet tooth)

These are just some of my favorite moments from the day. I have many more, but have decided to keep the list to a minimum. I can’t believe that it all happened close to one year ago. Where has the year gone? To celebrate our one year anniversary (a.k.a. our second honeymoon) we have decided to go on a cruise! We are cruising to the Southern Caribbean in about three weeks!

There are so many islands within the Southern Caribbean that I want to visit and we decided that this will be the perfect opportunity to see those islands. Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Kitts, and St. John… here we come! 🙂
